I was engaged as a technical production manager to support the DP World pavilion at EXPO2020 in Dubai. I was responsible for day-to-day running of the venue as well as live events running in the main event space - the atrium.
The role involved liaising with internal producers and external clients, as well as the building teams - facilities management, security, IT - in order to deliver high-profile events, often with very little notice.
The highly-automated building had significant amounts of AV over IP for the exhibition area which needed to be considered when running live events in the same space. This, combined with the 3-storey programmable waterfall, created some interesting challenges but also a great event space.
With my experience in virtual events. I was a perfect fit as the Pavilion team increased the number and complexity of virtual events, including international governmental and royal figures.
